Turf Field.
About New Paltz
The Hawks are coming off a 3-3 tie against Stony Brook on
Sunday, Sept. 18. In their first game of the season, they defeated
Hofstra, 44-0 on Sunday, Sept. 11. New Paltz is currently second in
league standings. Last season, New Paltz finished with a 3-2
overall record which had them ranked third in league standings.
Last Time Out
Quinnipiac stood up to the challenge and played a gritty game
against Eastern Illinois on Sunday, Sept. 18, falling 24-0 in the
first-ever meeting between two Division I women’s rugby
programs. While the Bobcats failed to score against the top rugby
squad in the nation (the Panthers hold an impressive 87-7 all-time
record), the teams played a scoreless opening 30 minutes. Time
after time Quinnipiac held its line, thwarting a handful of try
attempts by Eastern Illinois.
The Bobcats held the Panthers to just four scores in the contest, including a late score with 30 seconds remaining in the game. Junior fullback Krystin Orrico (Cranford, N.J.) led the offensive push for Quinnipiac, driving into the Panthers defensive zone throughout the contest.
