Women's Soccer Head Coach Dave Clake Featured On Soccer-New-England.com
Quinnipiac University women's soccer Head Coach Dave Clarke was recently featured on www.soccer-new-england.com. Clarke is a featured writer on the Web site's 'Coach's Corner' and will continue to add to this column throughout the summer and into the fall season. In latest installment, he reflects on last season and his personal experiences coaching over the last few months. Clarke is entering his 11th season with the Bobcats this fall.

Women's Soccer Announces 2009 Recruiting Class
Quinnipiac University women's soccer Head Coach Dave Clarke has announced the addition of four players for the 2009 season. Shauna Edwards (Southington, Conn.), Jillian Strassner (Avon, Conn.), Kemesha Woodfine (Bronx, N.Y.) and Larissa Rosenberg (Piscataway, N.J.) will attend Quinnipiac in the fall.

Furtuna Velaj Named To The NEWISA All-New England Second Team
HAMDEN, Conn. - Quinnipiac University women's soccer freshman Furtuna Velaj (Stamford, Conn.) was named to the New England Women's Soccer Intercollegiate Soccer Association All-New England Second Team as announced by the NEWISA office Tuesday. This is the second honor that Velaj has received as one of the top Division I players in New England. Last week, Velaj was named to the NSCAA/Adidas All-Northeast Regional Division I Women's Second Team.

Senior defender Danielle Nugent (Framingham, Mass.) has been selected to play in the 2008 New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association Senior Bowl, as announced by NEWISA. The game is set to take place Sunday, Dec. 7 at Salem State College at 11 a.m.

The Quinnipiac University women's soccer team and head coach Dave Clarke have been actively involved with a soccer team in Afghanistan for the past four years. Recently, the Afghani team received sweatsuits sent by the Bobcats delivered by the U.S. Military.

Two Women's Soccer Players Recognized By NEC
Two Quinnipiac University women's soccer players were named All-Northeast Conference, the league office today announced. Freshman Furtuna Velaj (Stamford, Conn.) was named to the All-NEC First Team and sophomore Meagan McLoughlin (Rocky Hill, Conn.) was named to the All-NEC Second Team.

Women's Soccer Falls To CCSU, 1-0
The Quinnipiac University women's soccer team fell to conference foe Central Connecticut State University, 1-0, in their final game of the season on Sunday afternoon. The loss eliminated the Bobcats from Northeast Conference Tournament contention. The Bobcats final record was 7-7-2 with a 3-4-2 NEC mark. Central Connecticut finished the regular season tied for 2nd in the NEC with a 7-2 conference record and 10-6-4 overall.

Women's Soccer Hosts Central Connecticut Sunday
The Quinnipiac University women's soccer team plays host to Central Connecticut State this Sunday for their final regular season game. The Bobcats will be honoring three seniors, Danielle Nugent (Framingham, Mass.), Stephanie Blanar (East Brunswick, N.J.) and Sarah Leighton (Scarborough, Maine) and two graduate students, Rachele See (Wilmington, Mass.) and Kate Ahearn (Danbury Conn.) who will be playing their final home game at Quinnipiac. The Bobcats enter the game having dropped Wednesday's game to Bryant University, 1-0.

Meagan McLoughlin Named ECAC Co-Offensive Player Of The Week
Sophomore Meagan McLoughlin (Rocky Hill, Conn.) was named the Co-Offensive Player of the Week by the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference as announced by the conference office on Tuesday. This is the first time McLoughlin has been recognized by the ECAC.

The Quinnipiac University women's soccer team was defeated by Bryant Wednesday afternoon, 1-0. The Bulldog's Brooke Duchaney scored the game's lone goal with 32 seconds remaining in the game. The loss drops the Bobcats to 7-6-2 overall this season, while the win improves Bryant's record to 5-9-3.

Two Quinnipiac University women's soccer players have been recognized by the Northeast Conference this week. Sophomore Meagan McLoughlin (Rocky Hill, Conn) was named Brine/NEC Player of the week and freshman Furtuna Velaj (Stamford, Conn.) was named the Brine/Northeast Conference Rookie Of The Week, as announced by the conference office today. This is the fourth time that Velaj has been recognized by the NEC and the first for McLoughlin.

The Quinnipiac University women's soccer team hosts the Bryant University Bulldogs on Wednesday, Oct. 29. This game was originally scheduled to be played Sept. 28 but was postponed due to inclement weather. The Bobcats are coming off a 2-0 weekend where they defeated Fairleigh Dickinson, 4-1, and Sacred Heart, 3-0.

The Quinnipiac University women's soccer team shut out Sacred Heart, 3-0, Sunday afternoon. Furtuna Velaj (Stamford, Conn.) and Megan McLoughlin (Rocky Hill, Conn.) each scored goals for the second straight game and Jillian Kelley (Simsbury, Conn.) earned her fourth shutout of the season as the Bobcats improved their record to 3-3-2 in Northeast Conference play and 7-5-2 overall. The loss drops the Pioneers to 1-14-1 and 0-6-1 in the NEC.

The Quinnipiac University women's soccer team defeated Fairleigh Dickinson, 4-1, Friday afternoon. Furtuna Velaj (Stamford, Conn.) and Meagan McLoughlin (Rocky Hill, Conn.) each scored two goals for the Bobcats in the team's second conference win of the season. Quinnipiac improves to 2-3-1 in Northeast Conference play and 6-5-2 overall. With the loss the Knights dropped to 3-3 in the NEC and 6-9-0 overall.

The Bobcats are coming off a 1-0 loss to Wagner College on Sunday, Oct. 19, in Staten Island, N.Y. Quinnipiac will play its last four regular season games at home. The Bobcats are 3-1 on the Quinnipiac Soccer Field this season.

Freshman forward Furtuna Velaj was named the Co-Offensive Player of the Week by the Eastern College Athletic Association as announced by the conference office on Tuesday. This is the first time Velaj has been recognized by the ECAC. She shares the weekly honor with Rutgers' Caycie Guzman.

The Quinnipiac University women's soccer team resumes conference play this weekend when they play host to Monmouth and Mount St. Mary's. The Bobcats are currently 1-0-1 in the Northeast Conference after a 4-3 win over Robert Morris and a 0-0 tie with St. Francis (PA) last weekend. The Bobcats return home after last weekend's road trip to Pennsylvania. They are 3-0 on the Quinnipiac Soccer Field with nine goals scored. Quinnipiac is 2-2-1 on the road with five goals scored.

Freshman Furtuna Velaj (Stamford, Conn.) scored three goals after the 80th minute to propel the Quinnipiac women's soccer team to a come-from-behind, double-overtime victory, 4-3, Friday afternoon at Robert Morris. The three goals give Velaj 12 in just seven games this season. With the win, the Bobcats improve to 5-2 (1-0-0 NEC), while the Colonials fall to 4-6-0 (0-1-0 NEC).

The Quinnipiac University women's soccer team hosts the New Jersey Institute of Technology Sunday at Bobcat Field at noon. The Bobcats return home after three weeks on the road where they posted a 1-2 record. This marks the third consecutive season the Bobcats and the Highlanders have met. The Bobcats are 2-0 against the Highlanders in that span, winning 1-0 in 2007 and 4-0 in 2006. The Bobcats come into Sunday's game after having lost 1-0 to St. John's on Sunday, Sept. 14 in the NYC Nike Classic.

HAMDEN, Conn. - The Quinnipiac University's women's soccer team kicks off their 2008 season this Sunday when they host St. Bonaventure at 1:00pm. The Bobcats finished last year with an overall record of 9-7-2 and an NEC record of 2-5-2. The team has a good balance of experience and youth, and looks to capitalize on that combination in the upcoming season.

HAMDEN, Conn. - 114 high school girl's soccer players attended the Quinnipiac University Women's Soccer Elite Girls Clinic, Friday afternoon. The clinic, open to any high school player interested in attending Quinnipiac, offered a tour of the school, a presentation by the admissions department, a question and answer session with the Quinnipiac coaching staff, as well as a training session and game.

HAMDEN, Conn. ? Incoming Quinnipiac women's soccer freshman Furtuna Velaj (Stamford, Conn.) was named the W-League U-19 Player of the Year. Velaj led the CFC Passion this past season with eight goals as the first-year expansion franchise finished fifth in the nine-team division, falling short of the playoffs by just six points.
