HAMDEN, Conn. – Three members of the Quinnipiac women’s soccer team were recognized with Northeast Conference post season awards, as announced by the league office on Thursday evening. Graduate student Kyla Miles (Newtown, Conn.) and junior midfielder Shauna Edwards (Southington, Conn.) were named All-Conference second team, while freshman Jess Lavoie (Berlin, Conn.) was selected to the NEC All-Rookie team.
Miles, the 2011 campaign’s captain, represented Quinnipiac defenders on the All-NEC second team after leading the Bobcats’ backline this season. Miles started in each of the team’s 15 games and tallied one point.
Edwards also earned All-NEC second team honors after making 14 starts for the Bobcats. The junior ranked second on the team in points (9) and goals (30), while compiling a team-high three assists during the season.
Lavoie was the only Quinnipiac freshman to be selected to the All-Rookie squad of 11 student-athletes. Lavoie led the Bobcats’ midfield and was the team’s only freshman to start in every game this year.
Quinnipiac (4-10-1, 3-6 NEC) plays its final game of the 2011 season when it hosts Bryant (8-7-3, 4-4-1 NEC) on senior day on Friday, Nov. 4 at 3 p.m. at the Quinnipiac Soccer Field in Hamden, Conn.
