HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac women’s soccer team lost to Northeast Conference opponent Saint Francis (Pa.), 3-0, on Sunday afternoon. With the loss, the Bobcats fall to 3-6-1 on the year and 2-2 in NEC play, while the Red Flash remain undefeated in conference action at 3-0-1.

Despite outshooting Saint Francis (Pa.), 16-12, Quinnipiac lost its first NEC match-up played at the Quinnipiac Soccer Field this season.

Thirty-five minutes into the first half, the Red Flash's Aryn Askin scored as she drove a corner kick into the box, which was deflected into the net by a Quinnipiac defender.

Saint Francis (Pa.) increased its advantage, 2-0, when Red Flash freshman Mackenzie Walter scored the team’s second on an assist from Askin. Walter scored the game's second goal off the deflection from a shot by Askin, with less than two minutes remaining in the first half.

Ahead, 2-0, Saint Francis (Pa.) junior Tesa McKibben notched her ninth goal of 2011, less than 10 minutes into the second half, to give the Red Flash a 3-0 lead. Alecia McNiff found McKibben, inside the 18-yard box, who then shot the ball over Quinnipiac senior goalie Jill Kelley’s head and into the middle of the net.

Overall, Kelley took the loss to drop to 3-6-1 on the year. Kelley made three saves in the outing, while Saint Francis (Pa.) goalie Brianna Butcher tabbed six stops in net.
