Women's Soccer Falls To Siena, 1-0
LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. – The Quinnipiac women’s soccer team fell to Siena, 1-0, in a non-conference match-up on Sunday afternoon. With the loss, the Bobcats drop to 0-1-1 on the year, while the Saints improve to 2-0-0 overall.
“Overall, we played okay, but couldn’t put our chances away,” said head coach Dave Clarke. “We created enough changes to score goals, but the keeper made some good saves that kept the clean sheet. In the future, we’ve got to learn to win those games or take them into extra time.”
Despite seven saves, Quinnipiac senior goalkeeper Jill Kelley (Simsbury, Conn.) took her first loss of the year. Overall, the Bobcats took 12 shots in the game and were led by senior Furtuna Velaj (Stamford, Conn.), who tallied six shots.
Siena's Ashleigh Barone broke the Siena women’s soccer program’s all-time record for career goals scored, game-winning goals and points in the win, as she scored the game-winning goal in the 32nd minute of play. Barone scored her second goal of the season off passes from Caitlin Cahalan and Kaitlyn Sharo.
The Bobcats continue play on the road when it faces Hartford on Thursday, Sept. 8 at 7 p.m.
