NSCAA Division I Northeast Regional Poll

Hamden, Conn. –The Quinnipiac University women's soccer team was recently ranked 10th in the NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division I Women's Soccer Northeast Regional Poll, announced on Tuesday, September 25, 2012.

"Rankings are very subjective, but it is nice that the committee think the team is worthy of consideration," said Head Coach Dave Clarke, "We are in good company and I hope we can remain there for a few weeks yet.  To do so we will have to continue winning which is our goal."

Quinnipiac joins a list of formidable programs, a group that includes BIG EAST power Georgetown (10-1-1) at #1 in the census. The Bulldogs are followed by fellow conference foes Notre Dame (7-3-1), Marquette (7-2-1), Louisville (7-2-1) and Rutgers (8-4-0) to round-out the top five. Connecticut (6-4-1) sits at #6, while Stony Brook (4-2-1), DePaul (7-4-1), Boston University (5-5-1) and Quinnipiac (6-2-1) conclude the poll.

Most recently, Quinnipiac opened Northeast Conference play with back to back wins against Fairleigh Dickinson and Central Connecticut on the QU Soccer Field. Senior forward Kemesha Woodfine (Stamford, Conn.) lifted the Bobcats to the 1-0 triumph to the Knights with her third goal of the season. Junior defender Taylor Healey (Milford, Conn.) was the deciding factor in the game against Central Connecticut where she was able to find the back of the net to give the Bobcats the 1-0 victory. Senior goalkeeper Jill Kelley (Simsbury, Conn.) collected her 24nd career win and currently leads the NEC in goals against average (.51), save percentage (.867), and shutouts (5).  Kelley was recently recognized by the NEC as Co-Defensive Player of the Week and College Sports Madness Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 24.
