HAMDEN, Conn. - The Quinnipiac University women's soccer team suffered its second straight one-goal loss on Friday afternoon, as the Bobcats fell short to Ivy League foe Brown University at the QU Soccer Field on Mount Carmel Campus. With the loss, Quinnipiac falls to 0-3 on the young season while the visiting Bears picked up their first win of the 2013 campaign (1-0).
Mika Siegelman (Piedmont, California), the defending First Team All-Ivy and recipient of 2012 Brown Women's Soccer player of the year award, scored the game's only goal in the 13th minute. Siegelman was fed with a cross in the left side of the box from Chloe Cross (Seattle, Wash.) and Siegelman one-timed the ball into the bottom right side of the goal.
"I thought we started the game well, but when they scored we sort of got rattled and the game changed physically. We then went to a physical lineup to match them and we started to take back over. We moved some players around to have a little more of a presence and had the chances we just didn't take them," said Head Coach Dave Clarke.
In a very defensive game Natalia Grodzki (Bartlett, Ill.) made five saves for the Bobcats while Amber Bledsoe (Cincinnati, Ohio) and MC Barrett (Ithaca,N.Y) split time with Bledsoe making the only the save of the day for Brown.
The Bobcats return to action on Sunday, Sept. 8, when they complete their three-game home stand against Holy Cross. Start time is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the QU Soccer Field in Hamden, Conn.
