Women's Soccer Recognized For Academic Achievements By NCSAA

HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac University women's soccer team earned National Collegiate Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Academic recognition for the 2012-13 academic calendar year, which was released on Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013 by the front office. The Bobcats are no stranger to this honor after being awarded the recognition for the 2011-12 academic year.
In order to earn the NSCAA Team Academic Award for the 2012-13 academic year, a program must post a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher. A total of 867 soccer teams (272 men, 595 women) posted a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher, thereby earning the NSCAA Team Academic Award for the 2012-13 academic year. The Bobcats totaled a 3.34 team grade point average after posting a 3.22 grade point average for the 2011-12 academic year.
Quinnipiac recently finished their first full season in the MAAC. Quinnipiac shut out the top two conference finishers in the MAAC this season, on their way to six clean sheets overall. Sophomore Natalia Grodzki finished with a 1.07 goals against average which was tenth all-time in Quinnipiac single season goals against average. Grodzki is currently second in school history with a 0.96 goals against average for her career.
Quinnipiac also had nine players named to the All-MAAC Academic Team. To be eligible for the MAAC All-Academic Team, a student athlete must complete two semesters at their institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a 4.0 scale. Players named to the team included sophomore Amanda Barroca ,senior Mary Corrado, junior Angela Ellison, sophomore Nicole Eriksen, sophomore Natalia Grodzki, sophomore Jessica Jankowski, senior Beck Kiting , sophomore Shannon Larkin, and senior Aine McKeever
The Quinnipiac men's soccer team was honored as well. The honor makes Quinnipiac one of only 189 institutions across all three divisions to have both its men and women teams recognized.
