HAMDEN, Conn. – Senior defender
Taylor Healey (Milford, Conn.) and freshman defender Kelly Caruso (Rocky Hill, Conn.) have been selected to the New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) All-New England third team for the 2013 season.

Healey and Caruso were key pieces for a Quinnipiac team that registered six shutouts on the season. The Bobcats also shutout the top two teams in the conference in MAAC Champ Monmouth and Fairfield.

The New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association chooses Division I players from all across New England and divides the top players into three teams. 11 players are selected to each team with the First Team having three goalies selected. Healey and Caruso were the only players selected from the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.

Healey was a key piece to the Bobcats defense this season and showed why she was deserving of being awarded Quinnipiac Women's Soccer Player of the Year in 2012. Healey played and started in all of Quinnipiac's 16 games this season. In her career, Healey has made 47 appearances and started 38 games. Healey has been a part of 15 shutouts in her 47 appearances. She registered a goal on Oct. 5, 2012 in Quinnipiac's 4-1 win at Wagner.

Caruso made a smooth transition to the college game after a successful high school career at Kingswood-Oxford High School in West Hartford, Conn.  Caruso appeared in 15 games and made 10 starts for the Bobcats in 2013. Caruso was a part of a freshman class that saw four players appear in at least 14 games and make at least 10 starts. Caruso's first start came in the second game of the season against Saint Joseph's on Sept. 1, 2013. Caruso registered her first career goal on Sept. 21 at Saint Peter's in a 3-0 Quinnipiac win. She tallied her first career assist on Sept. 28 against Rider in a 2-0 Bobcats win.
