Rachel Cantor Named NEC Rookie of the Year, Three Bobcats Named All-NEC
Quinnipiac University freshman women's tennis player Rachel Cantor (Short Hills, N.J.) was named the 2010 Northeast Conference Rookie of the Year to headline three Bobcats named All-NEC, the league office today announced. Cantor was also named First-Team All-NEC at No. 2 singles, joining Adrienne Markison (Princeton, N.J.), who earned the same honor at No. 3 singles. Markison was also named First-Team All-NEC at No. 1 doubles with partner Mary Wilson (Greensburg, Pa.). Cantor's Rookie of the Year honor signifies the third straight year that a Quinnipiac player has taken the award, joining Natalie Duckor (North Tustin, Calif.) last year and Markison two years ago.

Women's Tennis Falls To LIU, 4-1, In NEC Semifinals
Adrienne Markison (Princeton, N.J.) was a double winner, but the third-seeded Quinnipiac University women's tennis team was defeated by No. 2 Long Island, 4-1, in the Northeast Conference Tournament Semifinals at Mercer County Tennis Center. With the loss, the Bobcats conclude their season at 9-8. The loss also snapped the Bobcats' 10-year streak of advancing to the conference championship match.

Women's Tennis Defeats No. 6 Saint Francis (Pa.), 5-0, In NEC Quarterfinals
Three Bobcats earned double victories as the third-seeded Quinnipiac University women's tennis team defeated No. 6 Saint Francis (Pa.), 5-0, in the Northeast Conference Tournament Quarterfinals at Mercer County Tennis Center. With the win, the Bobcats (9-7) advance to the semifinals, where they'll face the winner between defending NEC Champion and second-seeded Long Island and No. 7 Monmouth (to be played today at 4:30 p.m.), tomorrow at 9 a.m.

Women's Tennis Falls At UMass, 5-2
Adrienne Markison (Princeton, N.J.) won both of her matches, but the Quinnipiac University women's tennis team was defeated by the University of Massachusetts, 5-2, Monday afternoon. Lisanne Steinert (Glauchau, Germany) also won her singles match, while Mary Wilson (Greensburg, Pa.) paired with Markison on a doubles victory. With the loss, the Bobcats fall to 8-6.

Cantor and Hughes Earn NEC Rookie, Player of the Week
Quinnipiac University men's tennis senior John Hughes (Springfield, Mass.) and women's tennis freshman Rachel Cantor (Short Hills, N.J.) have been named the Northeast Conference Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, the league office today announced. Hughes went 3-1 on the week, including a 2-0 mark at No. 2 singles, while Cantor went 4-2, with a win at No. 1 singles.

Stony Brook Defeats Women's Tennis, 5-1
Freshman Sarah Viebrock (Carmel, N.Y.) won her No. 4 singles match, but the Quinnipiac University women's tennis team was defeated by Stony Brook, 5-1, Tuesday afternoon. With the loss, the Bobcats conclude the regular season at 8-7. They'll open NEC Tournament action Friday against sixth-seeded Saint Francis (Pa.) at the Mercer County (N.J.) Tennis Center at 11:30 a.m.

Four Quinnipiac University women's tennis players won at both singles and doubles as the Bobcats defeated intrastate Northeast Conference foe Sacred Heart, 6-1, Saturday afternoon on the Quinnipiac Outdoor Tennis Courts. With the win, the Bobcats improve to 8-5 (2-1 NEC), while the Pioneers fall to 8-12 (2-2 NEC). Mary Wilson (Greensburg, Pa.), Rachel Cantor (Short Hills, N.J.), Adrienne Markison (Princeton, N.J.) and Natalie Duckor (North Tustin, Calif.) each won twice for the Bobcats.

Freshmen Rachel Cantor (Short Hills, N.J.) and Sarah Viebrock (Carmel, N.Y.) earned double wins, but the Quinnipiac University women's tennis team was edged by Rhode Island, 4-3, Tuesday afternoon on the Quinnipiac Outdoor Tennis Courts. With the loss, the Bobcats fall to 7-5, while the Rams improved to 10-5.

Women's Tennis Falls At Fairleigh Dickinson, 5-2
Rachel Cantor (Short Hills, N.J.) and Adrienne Markison (Princeton, N.J.) won their singles matches at No. 2 and 3, respectively, but the Quinnipiac University women's tennis team was defeated by Fairleigh Dickinson, 5-2, Wednesday afternoon. Four of the singles matches went to third sets. The difference in the match proved to be three Fairleigh Dickinson wins in three third-set tie-breakers.

Five Bobcats earned double wins as the Quinnipiac University women's tennis team swept Bryant, 7-0, in their NEC opener Sunday afternoon at the Bryant Tennis Complex. With the win, the Bobcats improved to 7-3 (1-0 NEC) on the season, while the Bulldogs fell to 3-10 (1-3 NEC).

The Quinnipiac University women's tennis team had one of its stronger performances this season, but nationally-ranked No. 37 Yale was too much for the Bobcats, defeating QU, 7-0, Friday evening at Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center. With the loss, the Bobcats fall to 5-3 on the season, while the Bulldogs improved to 11-4.

Markison, Cantor Earn NEC Women's Tennis Player, Rookie of the Week
Quinnipiac University women's tennis players Adrienne Markison (Princeton, N.J.) and Rachel Cantor (Short Hills, N.J.) were named the Northeast Conference's Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, the league office announced on Tuesday. Markison continued her undefeated singles play in the spring semester, while Cantor picked up a win in both singles and doubles last week. The award is Markison's second consecutive, after earning NEC Player of the Month for February. Meanwhile, Cantor has won a league-best five NEC Rookie of the Week Awards this season.

Women's Tennis Lends A Hand At Ronald McDonald House
On Tuesday March 9, 2010, the Quinnipiac University women's tennis team visited the New Haven Ronald McDonald House. The team prepared a meal for the 20 residents and children that are currently there recovering from various medical procedures. After preparing the meal they sat down and colored with one of the youngest residents, who loved the attention while recovering. The parents in the house were very pleased that they did not have to cook that night.

Adrienne Markison Named NEC Women's Tennis Player of the Month
Quinnipiac University junior women's tennis player Adrienne Markison (Princeton, N.J.) has been named the Northeast Conference Player of the Month for February, the league office announced Tuesday. Markison went an undefeated 6-0 in leading the Bobcats to three victories in the month. The award is the first of Markison's career.

Women's Tennis Tabbed NEC Favorite
HAMDEN, Conn. - The Northeast Conference's women's tennis coaches have picked Quinnipiac as the preseason favorite to win the league, the conference office today announced. The Bobcats, which have advanced to the NEC Tournament Championship in 10 consecutive seasons, saw its streak of five straight titles snapped last season by Long Island. The Bobcats received five first-place votes, followed by LIU's four and Fairleigh Dickinson's one.

Quinnipiac University women's tennis freshman Rachel Cantor (Short Hills, N.J.) has been named the Northeast Conference Women's Tennis Rookie of the Week, the league office today announced. The award is Cantor's fourth in seven weeks, including honors in each of the past two weeks. She also earned NEC Player of the Week on Sept. 22.

Quinnipiac University freshman women's tennis player Rachel Cantor (Short Hills, N.J.) defeated Fairfield's Kristen Liu, 6-1, 6-3, to advance to the ITA Northeast Regional Singles Round of 64, Saturday afternoon at Yale University's Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center. With the win, Cantor joins teammate Mary Wilson (Greensburg, Pa.), who received a first-round bye, in the Round of 64.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Quinnipiac University women's tennis players Rachel Cantor (Short Hills, N.J.) and Mary Wilson (Greensburg, Pa.) both fell to opponents from Brown University in the Round of 64, as the Bobcats completed play in the ITA Northeast Regionals, Sunday afternoon at Yale University's Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center. Sunday's action marked the completion of the fall portion of Quinnipiac's schedule.

Quinnipiac University freshman women's tennis player Rachel Cantor (Short Hills, N.J.) has been named the Northeast Conference Women's Tennis Rookie of the Week for the third time in five weeks, the league office today announced. Cantor was a double winner in the Bobcats' 4-3 win against intrastate rival UConn, Oct. 13. Cantor also earned NEC Player of the Week on Sept. 22.

Freshman Sarah Viebrock (Carmel, N.Y.) defeated Abby McKeon in a third-set tiebreaker as the Quinnipiac University women's tennis team edged the University of Connecticut, 4-3, Tuesday afternoon. Rain forced the final few games of Viebrock and McKeon's third set onto the Quinnipiac Indoor Courts. With the win, the Bobcats improve to 1-0 on the season, while the Huskies fall to 1-2.

Mary Wilson (Greensburg, Pa.) and Adrienne Markison (Princeton, N.J.) earned the Flight A Championship, while Lisanne Steinert (Glauchau, Germany) and Natalie Duckor (North Tustin, Calif.) took the Flight B Championship. Freshmen Rachel Cantor (Short Hills, N.J.) and Sarah Viebrock (Carmel, N.Y.) also earned their first career wins, going 2-1 on the day.
