"I'm excited to have somebody with Julie's credentials coming in next year," said Quitko. "She's played many USTA National and ITF Tournaments, which will give her the experience needed to help us accomplish our goals."
Labarthe has also been ranked in the top five in the Missouri Valley Section in the USTA Girls 18's and No. 3 in Oklahoma by TennisRecruiting.net. In 2009, Labarthe earned the Oklahoma High School No. 1 Singles Championship, going 29-1 on the season for Heritage Hall. A year prior, she was the runner-up in the event. Labarthe also went undefeated in six matches at the U.S. Girls 18's Team Event (Fed Cup) in the Summer of 2008.
Labarthe has also shown the ability to play doubles, reaching the finals at the Girls 18's Northeast Region Championships in Monroeville, Pa., in May 2009.
As an eighth grader, Labarthe attended the South African Tennis Performance Centre at the University of Pretoria, where she was in a daily small group with South Africa's Nike Masters Cup 14's World Championship Team.
Labarthe is the daughter of Richard and Shelley Labarthe. She committed to Quinnipiac as she "loves Coach Q and all the girls on the team." She also thinks the Quinnipiac campus is "absolutely gorgeous!"
