Women's Tennis Defeats Holy Cross, 7-0
HAMDEN, Conn. - Five Bobcats earned double wins as the Quinnipiac University women's tennis team swept Holy Cross, 7-0, Saturday afternoon on the Quinnipiac Outdoor Tennis Courts. With the win, the Bobcats improved to 6-3 on the season, while the Crusaders fell to 2-6.
Mary Wilson (Greensburg, Pa.), Rachel Cantor (Short Hills, N.J.), Adrienne Markison (Princeton, N.J.), Sarah Viebrock (Carmel, N.Y.) and Natalie Duckor (North Tustin, Calif.) each won twice, while Lisanne Steinert (Glauchau, Germany) won at singles and Shawna Sarson (Albany, N.Y.) paired with Duckor for a doubles victory.
Wilson paired with Markison at No. 1 doubles to defeat Kristen Meahl and Carolyn Chandley, 8-1. Wilson then defeated Meahl at No. 1 singles, 6-3, 6-1, while Markison beat Emily Marr, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 3.
Cantor and Viebrock paired at No. 2 doubles, beating Marr and Emma Rudnik, 8-2. Cantor then made quick work of Chandley, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 2 singles, while Viebrock defeated Hailee Lange at No. 4, 6-2, 6-0.
Duckor paired with Sarson at No. 3 doubles to defeat Ivette Konopka and Kathryn Wilkie, 8-3. Duckor then defeated Konopka at No. 5 singles, 6-3, 6-1. Steinert rounded out the Bobcats' singles line-up, beating Wilkie by the same 6-3, 6-1, margin at No. 6.
The Bobcats return to action Sunday, March 28, when they travel to Smithfield, R.I., to face NEC foe Bryant. Matches are set to begin at 11 a.m.
