Women's Tennis Defeats No. 6 Saint Francis (Pa.), 5-0, In NEC Quarterfinals
Mary Wilson (Greensburg, Pa.), Adrienne Markison (Princeton, N.J.) and Sarah Viebrock (Carmel, N.Y.) each earned double wins, while Natalie Duckor (North Tustin, Calif.) earned a singles victory and Rachel Cantor (Short Hills, N.J.) contributed to a doubles victory.
Wilson paired with Markison to defeat Samantha Fulchiero and Juliana Gustafson, 8-0, at No. 1 singles. Ironically, the duo simultaneously clinched the match with their singles victories. Wilson defeated Fulchiero, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 1, while Markison beat Abigail Ball, 6-0, 6-1, at No. 3.
Viebrock combined with Cantor on an 8-3 No. 2 doubles victory over Stephanie Rivera and Devyn Sarver, before blanking Sarver, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 4 singles. Cantor was leading Rivera, 6-2, 1-2, at No. 2 singles when the match was halted.
Duckor got the Bobcats' first singles point, defeating Caitlin Bart, 6-0, 6-0, at No. 5. She also paired with Shawna Sarson (Albany, N.Y.) at No. 3 doubles. The duo was ahead, 5-4, on Ball and Brianna Mapes when the match was halted.
Lisanne Steinert (Glauchau, Germany) also had a commanding lead in her No. 6 singles match against Laura Husband, when it was halted. The Bobcats' junior led, 6-1, 4-0, when the match was stopped.
