HAMDEN, Conn. - Quinnipiac University freshman Juliet Labarthe (Oklahoma City, Okla.) has been named the Northeast Conference Women's Tennis Rookie of the Week for the second straight week after winning the Quinnipiac Invitational Flight B Singles Championship this past weekend.

Labarthe won the first four singles matches of her career to take the title. Included in the tournament win was a 6-0, 6-0, blanking of Rhode Island's Kirsten Leikem in the championship match. Labarthe also defeated Sacred Heart's Gabi Kaldan, 6-1, 6-3, Fordham's Bethany Boyle, 6-0, 6-2, and UConn's Alexa Gregory, 6-2, 1-6, 10-5, en route to the championship.

In doubles play, Labarthe and teammate Sarah Viebrock (Carmel, N.Y.) defeated Fordham's Angelica Dabu and Hanna Fritzinger, 8-3, before falling to eventual Flight A champions Carolina Koladzyn and Monica Yajima of Fairfield, 8-6.

With the 5-1 weekend, Labarthe has now won 10 of the first 11 matches in her collegiate career. She also paired with Viebrock to win five straight matches and win the Flight 2 Championship at the Sacred Heart Doubles Invitational last weekend.

The Bobcats return to action Friday, when they take part in the Eastern Collegiates at Army. Matches are set to begin at 9 a.m.
