HANOVER,
N.H. - Three Quinnipiac University women's tennis players took part
in ITA Northeast Regional Qualifying Friday, but all three fell in
the first round at Dartmouth College. Sophomores Sarah Viebrock
(Carmel, N.Y.) and Rachel Cantor (Short Hills, N.J.) and freshman
Juliet Labarthe (Oklahoma City, Okla.) were defeated in their first
match.
Women's Tennis Opens Play At ITA Northeast Regionals
Labarthe pushed her match to three sets, before falling to Fairleigh Dickinson's Irina Dementyeva, 7-6 (3), 1-6, 6-4. Viebrock played a pair of closely-contested sets against Fordham's Mia Fiocca, but fell, 7-6 (5), 7-5. Cantor was defeated by Army's Jamila Paul, 7-5, 6-0.
The Bobcats return to action Saturday, when senior Adrienne Markison (Princeton, N.J.) will take part in the singles main draw, while joining Cantor, Labarthe and Viebrock in doubles play. ITA Northeast Regional matches are scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. in Hanover, N.H.
