POINT, N.Y. - Quinnipiac freshman Juliet Labarthe (Oklahoma City,
Okla.) was a double winner, but the Bobcats women's tennis team was
defeated by host Army, 6-1, Friday evening. With the loss, the
Bobcats fall to 1-4 on the season, while Army moves to 11-2.
Army Defeats Women's Tennis, 6-1
Labarthe paired with Sarah Viebrock (Carmel, N.Y.) to defeat Erin Colton and Annie Hang, 8-6, at No. 2 doubles, before getting past Hang, 6-1, 3-6, 1-0 (10-5), at No. 3 singles.
Army took the doubles point with a pair of wins at No. 1 and 3. Senior Adrienne Markison provided the most competitive match other than Labarthe's, pushing Jessica Ahn before falling, 7-5, 6-4, at No. 2.
The Bobcats continue action at West Point Saturday, when they face Marist. First serve is scheduled for 4 p.m.
