PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Freshmen Michelle Dassa (Marlboro, N.J.) and Jacqueline Raynor (Garden City, N.Y.) won their 20th doubles match of the year and paced the Quinnipiac University women's tennis team to a non-conference victory at Providence College on Wednesday afternoon. Dassa and Raynor also collected two of the four QU points in singles competition, lifting the Bobcats to their fifth win of the season.

With the win, Quinnipiac snapped a three-game slide and improved to 5-9 on the season. On the other side of the net, the Friars dropped to the .500 mark for the first time in 2012, falling to 7-7 for the campaign.

The Bobcats took control of the match early on, as No. 1 and No. 2 doubles solidified the point for the visitors. Rachel Cantor (Short Hills, N.J.) and Sarah Viebrock (Carmel, N.Y.) defeated Taylor Corder and Taylor Ahlborn, 8-1, in No. 1, followed by another triumph in No. 2. Dassa and Raynor topped Karen Ramirez and Caitlin Foley, 8-5, granting the Bobcats a 1-0 lead.

The back end of QU's rotation aided the Bobcats in the singles segment, with the Bobcats taking No. 2, No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6. Raynor defeated Corder, 6-2, 6-2, Dassa defeated Ahlborn, 6-1, 6-0, Ariana Launie (Milton, Mass.) defeated Alli Carnall, 6-4, 6-1, and Lavinia Cristescu defeated Foley, 6-7 (8), 6-2, 10-6, respectively.
