HAMDEN, Conn. – Freshman Michelle Dassa (Marlboro, N.J.) of the Quinnipiac University women's tennis team was named the Northeast Conference Women's Tennis Rookie of the Week, announced on Tuesday, April 10, 2012. The accolade marks the second time she has been selected this season.
Dassa comes off an unbeaten week in which she was nearly perfect in two No. 4 singles victories and partnered with Jacqueline Raynor for a pair of No. 2 doubles wins. In a 5-2 conquest of Providence on Wednesday, she beat Taylor Alhborn, 6-1, 6-0, and then knocked off Hartford's Haley Gileau, 6-0, 6-0, as the Bobcats rolled to a 6-1 win over the Hawks.
Dassa has posted eight singles victories on the year and amassed a 21-7 doubles mark with Raynor. The 21 doubles victories are the most by an NEC tandem this season.
