WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Quinnipiac University women's tennis team, winners in four of its last five matches prior to Saturday, saw its two-game unbeaten streak snapped with a 6-1 loss to the Black Knights at the Lichtenberg Tennis Center in West Point, N.Y. Sophomore Michelle Dassa (Marlboro, N.J.) collected the lone point for the Bobcats with a convincing win at No. 4 singles.
Quinnipiac, now 4-2 overall, fell behind early after losing the doubles' point despite a nice effort from Rachel Cantor (Short Hills, N.J.) and Sarah Viebrock (Carmel, N.Y.) at No. 1. Cantor and Viebrock earned their 38th career victory when paired together by claiming the tie-breaker over Elle Taylor and Della Taylor, 8-7 (4). Unfortunately, Army prevailed in the other two matches and took the decision for a 1-0 lead.
Army followed doubles competition with a strong showing in singles play, taking five of the six available points. Dassa picked up a victory for Quinnipiac with a win over Elle Taylor, 6-4, 6-1, at No. 4.
