SOMERSET, N.J. – Sophomore Michelle Dassa (Marlboro, N.J.) of the Quinnipiac University women's tennis team has been named February's Northeast Conference Player of the Month, announced on Wednesday, March 7, 2013 by the league office. Dassa's play has sparked the Bobcats early on, lifting Quinnipiac to a 4-2 record through the month of February into March.
Dassa opened the spring season red-hot, compiling a 4-1 mark in singles primarily competing out of the #4 flight. She picked up straight set singles wins to help lead the Bobcats to victories over Albany, UConn and Marist, then scored QU's lone point against eight-time defending Patriot League champion Army when she stopped Ella Taylor, 6-4, 6-1. Dassa improved to 11-4 in singles play on the 2012-13 campaign, and by winning three-of-four doubles matches with Jacqueline Raynor, lifted her doubles mark to 12-5.
The Marlboro, N.J. product and 2011-12 All-NEC second-teamer has now racked up 55 career wins in two seasons at Quinnipiac.
The Bobcats head to Orlando, Fla. for their annual Spring Break trip with matches scheduled against Navy, Southern Illinois and Savannah State. The first match will take place on Monday, March 11th at 3:30 p.m.
