HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac University women's tennis team helped spread some Valentine's Day cheer to local senior citizens, as the Bobcats took a trip to the Whitney Manor Nursing Home to spend the afternoon with residents of the rehabilitation center.
"Valentine's Day is a special day, and we thought it would be a great idea to take a trip to the Whitney Manor Nursing Home," said head coach Mike Quitko. "The residents of the nursing home really enjoyed our company, and it made for a very gratifying day."
Quinnipiac student-athletes distributed Valentine's Day cards and roses to residents of the community. However, it was just being there and carrying on a conversation that had the most impact.
"You could tell that residents really appreciated our visit," said team-captain Mary Chupa (Bradenton, Fla.). "They were very thankful for the cards and roses, and had a lot to talk about when we got there. It was a great Positive Play initiative to be involved in, and hope we can return next year."
