Women's Indoor Track Opens Season At Yale
NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Quinnipiac University women's indoor track team began its 2009-10 season Saturday afternoon at Yale's Season Opener at Coxe Cage. The meet was highlighted by a first-place finish by sophomore Morgan Roche (Clifton Park, N.Y.) in the 5K race in 18:22.27. Also competing were teams from Yale, Albany, Southern Connecticut, Manhattan College, University of New Haven and Columbia
"We had a strong opening performance today," said Head Coach Carolyn Martin. "The team ran well, but there is still a lot of room for improvement. Overall, I am pleased with the way we ran today and am looking forward to getting back out there again."
Junior runner Julie Lanning (Victor, N.Y.) finished second in the 3,000-meter race. Christine Cristobal (Dix Hills, N.Y.) ran well in the 1,000-meter race, finishing in 3:09 and in fourth place.
The Bobcats will next run at the Yale Intercollegiate Track Classic on Jan. 9, 2010. The meet will begin at 9 a.m., from Coxe Cage in New Haven.
