KINGSTON, R.I. – The Quinnipiac University women’s indoor track and field team participated at the University of Rhode Island Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 21. The Bobcats’ performances were highlighted in the 500-meter run where freshman Rebecca Stabile (Haverhill, Mass.) set a school record as she placed second in 1:18.58.
“We were really happy with today’s performances,” said head coach Carolyn Martin. “After two weeks of working really hard, the ladies were running on tired legs, but still hitting fast times. We’re excited to see how their performances will be affected when we start backing off as the season unfolds.”
Rebecca Smith (Hamburg, N.J.) also competed in the 500-meters where she placed fourth with a time of 1:22.86. Jessica Soja (Simsbury, Conn.) finished fourth in the 1,000-meter run in 3:06.89.
Junior Rebecca White (Natick, Mass.) recorded a personal-best time of 5:01.51 as she placed third in the one-mile. Senior Morgan Roche (Clifton Park, N.Y.) followed in sixth place overall in 5:06.37.
Three Bobcats represented Quinnipiac in the 3,000-meter run, including sophomore Brianna Faust (Macungie, Pa.) who finished third in 10:25.94. Fellow sophomore Amanda Faust (Macungie, Pa.) followed in fourth place with a time of 10:32.96, while senior Julie Lanning (Victor, N.Y.) crossed the finish line in seventh place at 10:44.47.
Quinnipiac returns to action when it competes at the Terrier Invitational on Jan. 27 at the Boston University Fitness and Recreation Center in Boston, Mass.
