Women's Outdoor Track Runs At UMass Invitational

Amherst, Ma. - The Quinnipiac University women's outdoor track team competed at the Massachusetts Invitational on Saturday, April 9. The Bobcats were led by sophomore Andrea Szarkowicz (Watertown, Conn.), who placed third in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

"I thought we had a great day," said Quinnipiac Head Coach Carolyn Martin. "Everyone was really positive and I think it proved how far a positive mindset can take them. It was exciting to see the ladies run faster times and I think we're going to take this momentum and hit a lot of personal and season bests this year."

Quinnipiac's Szarkowicz set a personal record, as she finished the 3,000-meter steeplechase in third place with a time of 11.15.84. The Bobcats also saw strong performances in the 1,500-meter run as sophomore Becca White (Natick, Mass.) placed fifth in 4:38.85 and Kristen Stevens (Succasunna, N.J.) finished in sixth with a time of 4.39.16. In addition, Morgan Roche (Clifton Park, N.Y.) ran the 1,500 meters in 4:43.65 in 12th place overall, while Julie Lanning (Victor, N.Y.) and Martha Santandreu (Hamburg, N.Y.) each ran personal bests in the event.

Quinnipiac had three runners place in the top 15 of the 800-meter run. The Bobcats' Hannah Donadio (Killingworth, Conn.) placed ninth with a time of 2:19.29, while Alexandra Seitz (Annandale, N.J.) and White finished in 14th and 15th place, respectively.

Quinnipiac freshman Amanda Faust (Macungie, Pa.) ran a personal best in the 5,000-meter run, as she placed sixth in 17:15.03. Paige Pallotto (Westbrook, Conn.) placed 14th in the 5k in 18:30.91. Lastly, the Bobcats' Kaitlyn Flynn (New Milford, Conn.) set a Quinnipiac record as she cleared 4' 9" (1.45 meters) in the high jump.

The Bobcats return to action when they run at the Brown Invitational on Saturday, April 16 in Providence, R.I.
