EMMITSBURG, Md. – The Quinnipiac University women’s outdoor track and field team will compete at the 2012 Northeast Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships on May 5-6 at Mount St. Mary's University in Emmitsburg, Md.
“We’re looking forward to seeing how the weekend unfolds,” said Head Coach Carolyn Martin. “We have a lot of great athletes were hoping to get into the finals. I’m eager to see them end their seasons with personal records.”
On Saturday, the Bobcats will participate in several events, including the 4x400 and 4x800-meter relays.
Quinnipiac will also run in the trials of the 1,500 meters and shorter-distance events on Saturday. QU sophomore Jessica Soja (Simsbury, Conn.) and seniors Rachel Morelli (Philadelphia, Pa.) and Katie Beam (South Windsor, Conn.) look to pace the Bobcats in the 1,500-meter run. Newcomer Samantha Stabile (Haverhill, Mass.) will represent Quinnipiac in the high jump, as well as the 100 and 200-meter dashes.
Freshman standout Rebecca Stabile (Haverhill, Mass.) will compete in the 400-meter hurdles for the Bobcats, while sophomore Amanda Faust (Macungie, Pa.) and senior Martha Santandreu (Hamburg, N.Y.) will race in the finals of the 10K.
On Sunday, Quinnipiac senior duo Morgan Roche (Clifton Park, N.Y.) and Julie Lanning (Victor, N.Y.) will run in the steeplechase. Additionally, the Bobcats will see several runners in the 5k, including junior Becca White (Natick, Mass.), senior Kaitie Kelly (Weymouth, Mass.) and sophomore Brianna Faust (Macungie, Pa.).
Quinnipiac looks to improve at this weekend’s competition after the Bobcats finished seventh amongst the 12 NEC opponents at the 2011 NEC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, last year.
