George Davis Invitational Complete Results

LOWELL, Mass. – The Quinnipiac women's outdoor track team completely dominated the 3000m event on Saturday at the George Davis Invitational hosted by UMass Lowell as five Bobcats placed in the Top-10 to highlight what was a brutally cold day of action. Freshman Shameal Samuels (Hartford, Conn.) also broke a school record in the 200m in her first career attempt at the event as the team has now accumulated six record-breaking results in six different events.

"We had some great performances out of some freshmen athletes and we finishing in scoring position in every event," said Quinnipiac women's outdoor head coach Carolyn Martin. "The weather was not ideal today, but the girls were competitive and raced well. We are looking forward to next week and hopefully some warmer weather."

The 3000m was certainly the highlight of the day for Quinnipiac as all 10 runners finished among the first 27 to cross the finish line out of 47 total participants. Junior Jessica Soja (Simsbury, Conn.) led the way with a personal best 10:16.68 for a career best second place finish in the event. She was closely followed by fellow classmate Brianna Faust (Macungie, Pa.) who scored a personal best time of 10:30.95 which was good enough for fourth place. Those two were joined in the Top-10 by senior Rachel Morelli (Philadelphia, Pa.), junior Amanda Faust (Macungie, Pa.) and senior Jill Humphreys (Burlington, Mass.) who finished in seventh, ninth and 10th, respectively.

Samuels posted a new program record time of 26.1 seconds in her first career 200m appearance which was good enough for second place in the overall standings out of 71 runners. She also competed in the 100m for the first time in her career and landed a fourth place result out of 54 competitors with a time of 12.93 seconds.

Freshman Tracy Campbell (Wall Township, N.J.) notched her first career win in any indoor or outdoor event as a Bobcat with her time of 18:04.42 in the 5000m, nearly 20 seconds faster than the second-place finisher as the rookie led her race from start the finish.

Other individual standouts that all finished at or near the top of the leaderboard in their respective events included sophomore Rebecca Stabile (Haverhill, Mass.) who just missed out on a Top-5 finish in the 400m hurdles as she crossed the line in 1:05.19, just .12 seconds behind the fifth place finisher. Her sister junior Samantha Stabile (Haverhill, Mass.) tied a program record and finished in third place after landing a 1.55m in the field event. Freshman Medinah Nabadduka (Windsor, Conn.) scored a fourth place result in the 800m with a time of 2:18.92. Fellow freshman Chelsea Savage (Pembroke, Mass.) was just behind Nabadduka in sixth place in the 800m with a time of 2:20.19. Junior Christina Faust (Macungie, Pa.) landed a Top-10 finish in the 1500m as her time of 5:05.18 earned her 10th place out of 39 other runners. Finally, senior Andrea Szarkowicz (Watertown, Conn.) bested her 3000m Steeplechase time from last week by a couple fractions of a second as she crossed the line in second place with a time of 11:17.84.

The Bobcats will be hoping for warmer weather and continued improvement next week as they travel to Brown Stadium for the Brown Invitational in Providence, R.I.
