Faust Sisters Headline Friday's Action at Larry Ellis Invitational for Women's Outdoor Track & Field

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Quinnipiac University women's outdoor track and field team took a drive down to Princeton University to compete in the first of two days of action at the Larry Ellis Invitational. The Bobcats had a relatively light day as they fielded runners in just two events on Friday. Among the completed running events, the 800m was the shortest distance throughout the day as the meet featured specifically the distance events throughout the day. Competition will resume throughout the day on Saturday as the meet will round out with the remaining middle distance and sprint events.

Leading the way for Quinnipiac in the two-event day was the senior sister tandem of Brianna and Amanda Faust (Macungie, Pa.). Competing in their strongest event, the 5000m, Brianna came seconds away from posting a new personal best while Amanda was just eight spots behind her in a crowded field that featured several Ivy League schools all of which own distinguished track and field programs. Brianna came through with a 41st place finish with a time of 17:40.48 to finish just a little over a second behind her personal best in the 5000m. Her sister Amanda crossed the line in 18:06.33 to finish in 49th place overall.

The only other event that saw Bobcats competing was the 800m in a group that featured three more Bobcats who all ran in their respective heats. Sophomore Medinah Nabadduka (Windsor, Conn.) had the best finishing time on the team as she clocked in at 2:19.85 while senior Val Zielinski (Hackettstown, N.J.) posted a 2:20.16 and junior Katy Petrie (Cranston, R.I.) finished with a time of 2:20.60.

Quinnipiac will hit the track for day two of the Larry Ellis Invitational on Saturday from Princeton University with plenty of short distance events to go for the Bobcat squad.
