Brown, Stony Brook Defeat Volleyball At Brown Invitational

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Freshman Kelby Carey (Surfside Colony, Calif.) totaled 15 digs, but the Quinnipiac volleyball team was defeated by Brown and Stony Brook, both by a 3-0 margin, Saturday at the Brown Invitational. With the losses, the Bobcats drop to 1-13, while the Bears and Seawolves improved to 6-1 and 6-8, respectively.

First-year player Alyssa Naylor (San Diego, Calif.) had a team-high 13 kills, while freshman setter Kayla Lawler (Richmond, Ind.) had 27 assists. Stephanie Biediger (Houston, Texas), Shelagh Dolan (Westford, Mass.) and Naylor each contributed four blocks. For her contributions during the weekend, Naylor was named to the Brown Invitational All-Tournament Team.

The Bears defeated Quinnipiac, 25-13, 26-24, 25-14, while the final result of the Stony Brook match was 25-17, 25-22, 25-9.

The Bobcats return home following 10 consecutive matches away from the Burt Kahn Court, Wednesday, to face Iona. The match is set to begin at 7 p.m.
