HAMDEN, Conn. Seniors Jenna Benigno (Milford, Conn.) and Crista Valentino (Oakdale, N.Y.) led the Quinnipiac volleyball team in kills and blocks, respectively, as the Bobcats swept St. Francis (N.Y.) on Senior Day at the Burt Kahn Court. Benigno had nine kills, while Valentino contributed 10 digs. With the win, the Bobcats improve to 5-28 overall and 2-4 in the Northeast Conference, while the Terriers drop to 0-30 (0-6 NEC).
Freshman Alyssa Naylor (San Diego, Calif.) played a part in six of the Bobcats' seven blocks, while fellow first-year player Kayla Lawler (Richmond, Ind.) had 24 assists. Freshman Shelagh Dolan (Westford, Mass.) hit .500 in tying Benigno for the team lead with nine kills.
For the match, the Bobcats hit a season-high .352, edging their mark of .351 against Coppin State on Sept. 27. The Bobcats didn't allow the Terriers more than 12 points in a set, winning 25-10, 25-12, 25-11.
The Bobcats conclude their regular season next weekend in Western Pennsylvania. They'll travel to Moon Township, Pa., for a Saturday match at Robert Morris before a Sunday pairing with Saint Francis (Pa.). Both matches are scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
