BROOKLYN, N.Y. - Sophomore Alyssa Naylor (San Diego, Calif.) compiled team highs of nine kills and three blocks, but the Quinnipiac University volleyball team was defeated by Long Island, 3-0, Thursday evening in Northeast Conference action at the Wellness, Recreation and Athletic Center. With the loss, the Bobcats fall to 1-15 (1-3 NEC), while the Blackbirds improve to 4-12 (1-0 NEC).
Sophomore Kayla Lawler (Richmond, Ind.) had 23 assists for the Bobcats, while freshman Chelsey Pachoud (Riverview, Fla.) added nine digs and two service aces.
The Blackbirds took the first two sets, 25-16 and 25-15, before clinching the match with a 25-20 third-set victory.
The Bobcats return to action Saturday, when they begin a two-match swing through Western Pennsylvania. Quinnipiac faces Saint Francis (Pa.) on Saturday, before a Sunday match-up with Robert Morris. Both matches are slated for 2 p.m. starts.
