FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Sophomore Kelby Carey (Surfside, Calif.) and freshman Chelsey Pachoud (Riverview, Fla.) both compiled double-doubles, but the Quinnipiac University volleyball team was defeated by Sacred Heart, 3-0, Thursday night at the Pitt Center. With the loss, the Bobcats fall to 3-21 (2-9 NEC), while the Pioneers improve to 18-7 (8-1 NEC).
Carey finished with a team-high 13 digs, three blocks and two service aces to go along with 10 kills, while Pachoud hit a team-high .435 while compiling 11 kills and 12 digs. Sophomore Kayla Lawler (Richmond, Ind.) led the Bobcats with 23 assists.
The Pioneers took the first two sets, both by a 25-14 margin. Following the 10-minute break, the Bobcats battled, but fell, 25-19.
The Bobcats return to action Sunday, when they begin a stretch of four home matches in their final five regular-season contests. Quinnipiac welcomes Fairleigh Dickinson to the Burt Kahn Court Sunday at 2 p.m., before a Monday home match against Robert Morris, also at 2 p.m.
