HAMDEN, Conn. - Freshman Logan Riker (Bowling Green, Ohio) tallied 11 digs, but the Quinnipiac University volleyball team was defeated by Sacred Heart, 3-0, Sunday afternoon at the Burt Kahn Court. With the loss, the Bobcats fall to 3-25 (2-13 NEC), while the Pioneers improve to 21-9 (11-3 NEC).
Kayla Lawler (Richmond, Ind.) compiled 19 assists and eight digs, while Kelby Carey (Surfside, Calif.) had a team-high seven kills. Carey and Alyssa Naylor (San Diego, Calif.) had two blocks each.
Sacred Heart won the first two sets, 25-17 and 25-20, respectively, before running away with the third set, 25-12, to clinch the match.
Quinnipiac concludes the 2009 season Sunday, Nov. 15, when it plays host to Saint Francis (Pa.). First serve from the Burt Kahn Court is scheduled for 1 p.m. Prior to the match, the Bobcats will honor their two-member senior class as part of Senior Day ceremonies.
