EASTON, Pa. - Stephanie Biediger (Houston, Texas) had a team-high 21 kills, while Kayla Lawler (Louisville, Ky.) added 67 assists as the Quinnipiac University volleyball team defeated Lafayette, 3-0, and was edged by La Salle, 3-2, in Saturday's final day of the Lafayette Invitational at Kirby Sports Center. With the split, the Bobcats are now 2-10 on the season.
Logan Riker (Bowling Green, Ohio) contributed a team-high 42 digs on the day, while Amanda Armstrong (Waukesha, Wis.), Kelby Carey (Surfside, Calif.) and Olivia Grattan (Pittsburgh, Pa.) had four blocks apiece.
In the first match of the day, the Bobcats swept past the home-standing Leopards. Quinnipiac took the first set, 25-21, before progressively becoming more dominant with a 25-16 decision in the second and a 25-10 victory in the third set.
Taylor Payne (Warwick, N.Y.) had a team-high eight kills to lead six Bobcats with at least five kills. Lawler contributed 28 assists, while Riker had 17 digs. Armstrong had all four of her blocks on the day in the Lafayette match.
For the match, the Bobcats hit .278, their third-best single-match percentage of the year.
Against the Explorers, the Bobcats took two of the first three sets, before falling in the final two. Quinnipiac won a 25-20 decision in the first, before falling 25-17 in the second. The Bobcats regrouped with a 25-17 win in the third set, before La Salle took the fourth and fifth, 25-18 and 15-12, respectively.
Biediger compiled a double-double of a career-high 16 kills and 17 digs against the Explorers, while Carey added a double-double of her own with 12 kills and 17 kills. Lawler also reached double digits in two categories with 39 assists and 12 digs. Riker also contributed 25 digs, matching her career high.
La Salle was led by Kourtney Clark, whose triple-double of 11 kills, 44 assists and 10 digs led the Explorers.
The Bobcats return to action Wednesday, when they play host to Providence. The match is set to begin at 7 p.m. at the Burt Kahn Court.
