Bobcats Host Delaware St., La Salle and Navy For Quinnipiac Tournament
The Quinnipiac University volleyball team will co-host the first-ever Quinnipiac/University of Hartford Tournament on Friday, Sept. 9 and Saturday, Sept. 10. Delaware State, La Salle and Navy will come to the Nutmeg State for the two-day tourney, to be held at legendary Burt Kahn Court on the Mt. Carmel Campus of Quinnipiac University.

The Tournament Field
Delaware State and La Salle kick-off the tournament on Friday, Sept. 9 at 2 p.m. followed by Quinnipiac's home-opener at 7 p.m. against La Salle. Saturday's action at Burt Kahn Court will see the Bobcats face Navy at 11 a.m. and Delaware State at 5 p.m. Hartford will face Navy at 4 p.m. on Friday, followed by Delaware State at 11 a.m. and La Salle at 7 p.m. in West Hartford, Conn. The tournament's final game pits the two hosts schools when the Bobcats and Hawks play on Sunday, Sept. 11 at 1 p.m. in West Hartford.

Scouting the Delaware State Hornets
The Hornets are currently 0-4 on the year following early-season losses to Cornell, Niagara and UTEP, all 3-0, as well as 3-2 loss to Saint Francis (Pa.). Jessica Russell-Croucher leads Delaware State with 3.00 kills per set, as well as six service aces. Christobel Fakaosi is the Hornets' assist and digs leader, averaging 7.36 and 2.36, respectively.

Scouting the La Salle Explorers
La Salle is currently 1-6 on the season, with losses in six straight matches following a season-opening win against St. Peter's. Kelly Scanlon (3.05 kills per set) and Rachel Finkbeiner lead the Explorers' attack while Kourtney Clark averages 8.52 assists per game, as well as 2.17 digs per contest.

Scouting the United State Naval Academy
Navy is currently 0-7 on the season, with losses to Bowling Green, Iona, Air Force, George Mason, High Point, UNC Greensboro and UMBC. Navy features a trio of attackers average better than two kills per set, as Carolyn Ewert (3.62), Caroline Jacobs (2.11) and Maida Kalic' (2.00) lead the charge. Erin Fortner averages 8.05 assists per set, as well as 1.77 digs.

Scouting The Hartford Hawks
Hartford is 3-5 on the season, defeating Bryant and UMKC at the Army Invitational on Aug. 26-27 and Holy Cross on Sept. 7. Hartford also played in the Sacred Heart Tournament, falling to Rutgers, Brown and the host Pioneers. Kami Nethersole (3.97), Michelle Cordell (2.39) and Sareeta Nethersole (2.03) pace Hartford in kills, while Jackie Tamburri averages 9.77 assists per set. Tamburri also averages a team-high 3.29 digs per contest and leads the team with eight service aces.

Milestone Moments Approaching
Three Bobcats are approaching statistical milestones this season. Kelby Carey is well within striking distance of both 1,000 kills and digs, while Logan Riker will likely reach 1,000 digs this season. Kayla Lawler is also within range of 3,000 career assists.

The Bobcats At The Maryland Invitational
Senior Kelby Carey had 20 kills and 20 digs on the weekend. Freshman Tierra Allen emerged with 11 of her 14 kills in the second day of the tournament. Freshman Krista Bennett had a team-high 22 digs, while junior Logan Riker was close behind with 20 digs. Senior Kayla Lawler had 58 assists, four service aces and 18 digs.
