HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac University women's volleyball team lost to Delaware State, 3-0, in the final game of the second day of the Quinnipiac/Hartford Invitaitonal at Burt Kahn Court on the Mt. Carmel campus of Quinnipiac University. With the loss, the Bobcats fall to 1-8 on the season, while the Hornets improve to 1-7.
Freshman Tierra Allen (Sumter, S.C.) was in double-figures in kills for the third consecutive match, leading the team with 10. Sophomore Tracy Wright (Fair Lawn, N.J.) and freshman Krista Bennett (Scottsdale, Ariz.) each posted double-digit dig totals, with 16 and 10, respectively. Senior Kayla Lawler (Louisville, Ky.) led the Bobcats in assists with 23 in the match.
Wright recorded seven digs in a first set that was taken by the Hornets, 25-22. Lawler had eight assists in the frame. Delaware State was victorious by scores of 25-23 in both the second and third sets. Lawler tallied ten of her team-high 23 assists in the third.
The Bobcats lost earlier in the day, 3-2, to Navy. They return to action Sunday, as they travel to Hartford to conclude the Quinnipiac/University of Hartford Invitational. Sunday's match begins at 1 p.m.
