AKRON, Ohio - Junior captain libero Logan Riker was named to the Akron Invitational All-Tournament Team over the weekend as the Bobcats competed against the Zips and Montana St. The All-Tournament selectee has picked up right where she left off in 2010 as the team's leading defensive player and one of the most impressive.
Less than a week after being named to the West Point Invitational All-Tournament Team, Riker posted another impressive weekend on her way to another individual honor. In the team's loss to Montana St. on Friday Aug. 31, Riker posted a game-high 14 digs, which also represented her most in a game since she compiled 24 on Oct. 30, 2010 in a 3-2 loss to Bryant after missing most of last season due to injury. It was also her most digs in a three-set match since Oct. 23, 2010 when she totaled 17 against Central Connecticut State. Riker also added four assists, the third most of any player to see game action against Montana St.
She followed up with a team-high four digs, four assists, and a service ace in a 3-0 loss to Akron in the nightcap on Friday evening. For the tournament, she provided 18 digs, eight assists, and a service ace for the Bobcats. Her 18 digs brings her career total to 920 as she closes in on 1,000 and Kelby Carey's program record of 1,017.
