HANOVER, N.H. - Quinnipiac University women's cross country sophomore Morgan Roche (Clifton Park, N.Y.) finished third overall at the Dartmouth Invitational. Roche ran the 5K course in 20:31 as the 2008 Northeast Conference Rookie of the Year led the Bobcats to a third-place showing behind Dartmouth and Boston College in her first meet of the year. Quinnipiac finished the meet with 65 team points.
Senior Lindsey Pierret (Morristown, N.J.) was the second Bobcat to cross the line. Her time of 20:46 was good enough for eighth overall. Sophomore Kaitlin Kelly (Weymouth, Mass.) placed 18th in 21:45, with fellow sophomore Julie Lanning (Victor, N.Y.) crossing the line 19th overall in 22:03. Sophomore Martha Santandreu (Hamburg, N.Y.) rounded out the Quinnipiac runners in the scoring as she finished 26th overall in 22:39.
"This race was a very strong showing for us," said head coach Carolyn Martin. "The team ran as a group and I am very happy with the outcome. We know that we can keep up this style and it will help us perform better later in the season."
The Bobcats return to action on Saturday, Sept. 19 as they host the annual Quinnipiac Invitational. The meet will have 10 teams, including eight Northeast Conference opponents and non-conference opponent Yale. The race is set to begin at 11 a.m.
