Women's Cross Country Sweeps NEC Weekly Awards For Second Time This Season

HAMDEN, Conn. - Two Quinnipiac University women's cross country runners were honored by the Northeast Conference on Tuesday, Oct. 5. Sophomore Rebecca White (Natick, Conn.) was named NEC Player of the Week for the second time this season, while Freshman Amanda Faust (Macungie, Pa.) received her third NEC Rookie of the Week award.

White was Quinnipiac's top finisher, for the third straight meet of the season, at the Paul Short Run at Lehigh University on Friday, Oct. 1. The sophomore finished the 6k race in 46th place out of 366 runners with a time of 21:27. White paced the Bobcats to a 25th finish out of 41 teams. White previously was named the conference's Player of the Week on Sept. 14 after leading the Bobcats to a second place finish at Central Connecticut State.

Faust was named NEC Rookie of the Week after finishing second for Quinnipiac at the Paul Short Run on Friday. Overall, the freshman crossed the finish line in 22:21, good for a 119th place finish out of 366 total runners. Faust has continued to be an important asset for the Bobcats in her rookie season, as this is her third NEC honor. She previously received the award on Sept. 14 and Sept. 21.

Both Quinnipiac student-athletes continue to lead the Northeast Conference and look to do so at the New England Championships on Saturday, Oct. 9, at the Franklin Park in Boston, Mass. The women are scheduled to race at 1 p.m.
