Women's Cross Country Wins Seawolves Invitational

STONY BROOK, N.Y. - The Quinnipiac University women's cross country won their first race of the 2010 season, finishing in first place out of four teams, at the Seawolves Invitational in Stony Brook, N.Y.

"They did a really great job running as a pack," said Head Coach Carolyn Martin. "I am very excited to see how the season unfolds. We have a very young and talented team."

The Bobcats placed five players consecutively in the meet. Leading Quinnipiac and finishing in fourth place overall, was Andrea Szarkowicz (Watertown, Conn.), with a time of 15:39.02. The fifth place runner was freshman Christina Faust (Macungie, Pa.), with a time of 15:40.02, while her twin sister, Brianna Faust (Macungie, Pa.) finished seventh at 15:40.16.

Senior graduate student, Kristen Stevens (Succasunna, N.J.) finished sixth, with a time of 15:41.43 and Jessica Soja (Simsbury, Conn.) crossed the line in eighth place at 15:42.03.

The Bobcats look to next Sunday, Sept. 11, where they are scheduled to race at the Blue Devils Invitational at the Stanley Quarter Park in New Britain, Conn. at 11 a.m.
