(Madrid, Spain) has been named to the 2018 All-BIG EAST Second Team, as announced by the league office Wednesday afternoon.
Ruiz Martinez earned All-BIG EAST Second Team recognition for the second consecutive season after her 2017 season.
This marks the third straight season the Bobcats have had a player receive All-BIG EAST recognition since joining the conference for the 2016 season. Quinnipiac has had at least one player earn all-conference recognition in every season since joining the Division I ranks in 1998.
Ruiz Martinez started all 17 games this season for the Bobcats, one of four players on the team to start every game, and logged the third most minutes on the team with 1,158. She played all 70 minutes in 12 games this season.
She scored on goal and added two assists for four points in addition to providing valuable leadership on the field. Ruiz Martinez's lone goal this season came in the Bobcats' 2-1 victory over Georgetown, and picked up assists against Brown and Maine.
Earlier this season, Ruiz Martinez earned a spot in the NFHCA Division I Senior Game on Nov. 16, one of four Bobcats to be selected to the team.
