HAMDEN, Conn. – Freshman Lexie Adzija (St. Thomas, Ontario) netted her first career goal in the second period but the Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team fell, 2-1, to the Maine Black Bears in overtime Friday night.

(0:55, 2nd period) – Quinnipiac 1, Maine 0: Quinnipiac opened the scoring less than a minute into the second period when Sarah-Eve Coutu-Godbout (Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec) shot a puck on the net that was tipped top shelf into the goal by Adzija.
(15:45, 2nd period) – Quinnipiac 1, Maine 1: The Black Bears tied the game on the power play late in the second period when Tereza Vanisova scored her first goal of the 2018-19 season. Maine's Alyson Matteau played the puck up the boards to Ali Beltz who found a streaking Vanisova.
(3:26, OT) – Quinnipiac 1, Maine 2: The Black Bears won it in overtime when Vanisova corralled a pass from Celine Tedenby that led to a 2-on-1 advantage for Maine. Vanisova beat Abbie Ives (Bedford Hills, New York) blocker side to net her second goal of the game and win it for the Black Bears.
Adzija's goal early in the second period was the first goal of her career in the blue and gold
The goal for the Ontario-native came just a few days after the freshman was named ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Week. Adzija tallied two points for the Bobcats in her first collegiate game with a pair of assists against No. 7/7 Ohio State. She led all ECAC Hockey freshmen with two assists and two points on the weekend, and was one of seven rookies in the nation to record a two-point game.
Coutu-Godbout continued her strong junior-year campaign with her team-leading third assist of the season on Adzija's goal
